If you have been postponing your membership to a Gym or Fitness Center, think again.
There are lots of diets and medicines that claim you will lose weight, or it will bring back your cholesterol to normal. For some, these diets work and for others it does not. For those who fall asleep counting calories in each meal or snack, then the Gym or some daily physical activity like Yoga/Zumba Fitness (the dance aerobic exercise) or your favorite sports or a combination of these would be ideal.
No diet will work unless you hit the Gym or Fitness center. You have heard your Doc say " You need to Diet and Exercise to lower total cholesterol, high LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase HDL (Good Cholesterol) ".
If you want to lose weight and reach your ideal weight and BMI then you need to at least reduce 500 calories daily or burn them at the Fitness Center (Yes, that is the secret recipe which no one will tell you :). You can reach your goal by going to the Gym 3-5 days a week (moderate activity). Prepare to spend at least 2 hours at the Fitness Center. I found some calorie calculator's on the internet which are helpful to calculate your BMI, and how much weight you need to lose to acheive your ideal weight. The links to these sites are given below:
You can then chose to decide if you want to lose 1 pound per week or 2 ("Slow and Steady wins the race"). At this rate, you can achieve your ideal weight and BMI based on your height and age within 12 months. Then you need to maintain this ideal weight....
As always, consult your healthcare provider/Doctor before starting any intense physical activity or weight losing program.
